About me

The aim of this blog is to observe, photograph and document flowering plants in Sydney and its surrounding areas, how they change throughout seasons and year after year.

Fascination with nature has always been part of my life. However, I did not really know much about plants. Last weekend, early August 2023, my family and our friend Natasha visited the Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. Natasha and I were admiring gorgeous flowers, abundant despite winter.
The difference between Natasha and me was that Natasha actually knew what various plants were called and she even grew many of them in her garden. Her knowledge was so inspiring. When she named some plants, I realised I knew them too, some from childhood, but I was not recognising them. Exploring the garden and chatting about beautiful flowers awoke warm nostalgia feelings and I wanted to learn more.

Next day, on Monday, I had this blog idea. I wanted to write, I wanted to learn and try something new. So this site was born and I am excited to see where it takes me.

Disclaimer: I am not a botanist or any plant expert in any way. All my notes come from my observations and research online. I go for walks, look around, pay attention, take photos of the plants I like, then try to learn about them and document my findings.

I am not here to make money or to seek fame. I just want to write about what I find interesting, and if anyone else enjoys reading my notes I would be very happy.
